If you are an art lover, you must have heard of all those artwork scams taking place nowadays. Recently there was an issue between Dmitry Rybolovlev, a Russian fertilizer billionaire turned art collector and a Swiss art dealer, Yves Bouvier.

According to Rybolovlev, Bouvier committed fraud by selling paintings to him at a price higher than their actual price. This issue is still in court, waiting for the judgment. If you want to save yourself from this kind of fraud, you must keep the following things in mind:

Authenticity Certificate

The authority certificate is a signed document that proves the authenticity of the artwork. It contains all the details related to the artwork.

Keep in mind that every genuine artwork comes with an authenticity certificate. Having this certificate means the origin of the artwork has been appropriately identified. An artwork that comes without this certificate should be regarded as fake.

Read and research

Every art lover wants to invest their money in a painting that is created by a famous artist. Check the previous creations of this artist. Famed artists use a trademark for their work. Look for a similar trademark on the painting that you intend to buy. If you are able to find it, that one is an original piece.

Brush Bristles

Duplicate work will speak for itself. Closely observe the painting. You will see the brush bristles stuck on the surface. This is one of the easiest ways to watch over the authenticity of the painting. An original art piece won’t be having any traces of brush bristles.
