DNA forensic analysis has come a long way since it was first developed in the early 1980s and is commercially available in the late 1980s. Improvements in collection, quantification, and amplification techniques mean those forensic technicians.

Men and women employed by places like the State Bureau of Investigation – is now able to develop a DNA profile of a relatively small amount of biological evidence collected from a crime scene.

While in the past, a forensic technician may need quarter-sized droplets of blood from the crime scene to produce a DNA profile, today; forensic technicians can develop a DNA profile from the blood left at the scene which may be as small as a pinhead. Forensic labs also use clear evidence bags for security purposes.

In addition, modern forensic DNA techniques enable forensic technicians to develop DNA profiles from touch DNA – a biological residue of a person touching or handling something that was left at the scene.

What is DNA? DNA is the genetic code that makes us unique biological. And none of us shared a DNA profile with others unless we are identical twins.

Because developing a DNA profile of every person would take years and cost an incredible amount of money, forensic techniques take a very small portion of our DNA – much less than 1 percent – and then compare those DNA markers against DNA markers found in DNA left at the scene.

How DNA collected from a crime scene? DNA from crime scenes are usually collected as part of the process very easy. A policeman, following the crime, it may put thoughts of items that have been touched by the suspect in a plastic bag to be sent to the crime lab.
